Chai Spice Pound Cake with Cinnamon Glaze

This Chai Spice Pound Cake with Cinnamon Glaze is a perfectly simple easy-to-make dessert made with sour cream, chai spices, and a sweet & spicy cinnamon glaze.

Pound cake is one of my favourite cake recipes to make. It’s so beautifully dense and sweet, and it reminds me of baking with my grandma when I was a little girl.

In the winter there’s almost nothing I love more than warm cinnamon, spicy cloves and smooth cardamom. Whether it’s in a chai tea latte or a cake like this Chai Spice Pound Cake, spices are always a good idea!

Ingredients:
For the Pound Cake
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup sour cream (full fat)
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Glaze
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar sifted to remove lumps
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon half and half cream
