Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

Combine the all-time favorite flavors of a classic PBJ in a protein-packed, healthy Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie and you have a surefire kid-friendly breakfast or snack. Loaded with berries, you can even sneak in vitamin-rich spinach or kale, or other dark, leafy greens and some superfoods for extra nutrition!

Can you ever go wrong with combining berries and peanut butter? That classic pairing of peanut butter and jelly in any form is always a favorite, so it shouldn’t just be limited to sandwiches.

And this Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie recipe is definitely a favorite in our house. While I can certainly enjoy the entire thing by myself, I have always had to share or make another smoothie or two because my kids will always beg for some if they hear the blender going!

It is such a versatile smoothie, too. I’ve made it tons of different ways – strawberry yogurt, blueberry, even vanilla or honey or plain (of course with plain, you may need to add a little something to sweeten it up, depending on your tastes). I’ve used fresh strawberries, frozen mixed berries, and frozen blueberries.

I’m sharing my favorite way to make it, but feel free to change things up to customize it how you like it best!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 of a medium frozen banana, cut into chunks (about 1/4 cup)
  • one 5.3 oz container of Greek yogurt, any berry variety (about 2/3 cup)
  • 2 Tbsp peanut butter or powdered peanut butter such as PB2
  • 1/4 cup water or dairy or nondairy milk, such as almondmilk (add another 1-2 Tablespoons, if needed for your desired consistency)
  • 1-2 handfuls of baby spinach or other dark, leafy greens, optional
  • more peanut butter and berries for garnish, if desired
