Brown Butter Apple Blondies

These brown butter apple blondies are buttery and soft, with a rich caramely flavor, bursting with apples, and coated in a brown butter glaze!

So a blondie is sometimes called a blonde brownie. It is rich and fudgy like a brownie, but without the chocolate! And those apples keep everything moist without making the texture too dense! So it might remind you of the flavor of a cookie base, but these are designed to be chewy and fudgier than a cookie bar. And in this recipe, with the addition of brown butter, apples, and cinnamon you’re in for a treat! A great idea is to top them with brown butter icing. If you love apple desserts like I do, these are a must-make!

The good news is that this recipe makes a large 9×13 inch pan, so there’s plenty to share. These dessert blondies with a cinnamon glaze are a sweet and chewy way to celebrate autumn and apple season. Actually, this apple blondie recipe is perfect dessert at any time of the year!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups peeled chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 2 Tablespoons (30ml) pure maple syrup (or brown sugar)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup (2 sticks; 230g) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 and 1/3 cups (290g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 and 2/3 cups (330g) packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (180g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons (30ml) milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
