Baked Spiced Apple Slices

These easy to make baked apple slices are oven-baked with cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar until they are perfectly tender (not mushy), like apple pie without the crust! Serve warm with ice cream, yogurt or granola.

Want to get your whole house smelling like my best homemade apple pie, without fussing over pie dough or pastry?

I’m here to tell you that making these easy baked apples is the best kind of aromatherapy, and they taste pretty delicious.

The sliced apples bake in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and other spices, which absolutely makes your house smell amazing! I guarantee it’s a million times better than a pumpkin-spice candle, and you get to eat it, too.

This simple, healthy treat combines firm, sweet apples with melted butter, brown sugar and spices in a baking dish.

Ingredients:
  • 5-6 crisp tart apples such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp or Paula Red, peeled and cored
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) melted butter
  • ⅓ cup (80 g) brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon flaky sea salt, such as Maldon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
