Bananas Foster French Toast

Bananas Foster French Toast

This bananas foster French toast is a delicious combination of the iconic New Orleans dessert and a decadent breakfast dish. It’s a perfect treat for special occasions or a lazy weekend brunch!

Banana’s foster French toast might sound fancy, but it’s actually made with basic ingredients that you’ll likely already have in your kitchen.

I used sourdough for the bread, as it’s sturdy enough to hold the rich sauce without falling apart. This then gets dipped in a mixture of eggs, milk, mashed ripe bananas, cinnamon, and salt for a flavorful and custardy French toast.

You’ll also need sliced bananas (these can be fresher), salted butter, light brown sugar, and brandy to make the incredible bananas foster sauce. It’s buttery, sweet, and has a hint of brandy for a touch of sophistication… because you FANCY.

Ingredients:
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk of any kind
  • 2 tablespoons mashed ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 4-8 slices sourdough bread depending on how large the bread slices are — mine were pretty big
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter separated
  • 4 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 2 large bananas sliced
