Pastrami Hash

Hash – a word in English which means useless, unnecessary. However, in the culinary world it is usually the name of dishes consisting of chopped meat, potatoes and vegetables. It’s great because of its taste and also because it doesn’t take much time to prepare. The main component of this dish is prepared meat (in our case pastrami). The following recipe should not be used precisely, since you can or even should use the leftovers from your fridge. We’ve tried this for late breakfast, lunch and early dinner – it really works.

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or another oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 750 grams potatoes, washed, peeled or diced
  • 12-15 slices of pastrami cut into medium sized cubes
  • 2 medium-sized red peppers (alternatively use pepper of another colour, courgette or aubergine)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
  • Pepper (preferably freshly ground)
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp ground coriander
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Total Time:
30 minutes
