Farmhouse Country Salad

Farmhouse country salad — this simple salad is anything but simple tasting, featuring romaine lettuce tossed with crispy bacon, tangy blue cheese and a dijon vinaigrette, it may just become your go-to salad.

Everyone needs a super simple green salad recipe with a short ingredient list, and this Farmhouse Country Salad accomplished all of that while still tasting like something you might get in a restaurant.

It accomplishes all of that with bold tasting ingredients, like crumbled bacon and blue cheese, plus some crunchy breadcrumbs for texture, and a homemade Dijon vinaigrette.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a salad loaded with all the fixings. But I hate making that kind of salad at home, because there is always SO much chopping.
This salad requires minimal chopping, but I find it just as satisfying as one of those salads from the fancy salad places that seem to include everything.

Don’t let the name fool you into thinking this salad isn’t full of flavor. But it’s also super simple to make, like…..well, something you might eat at a farmhouse in the country.

Ingredients:
For the dressing
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the salad
  • 2 heads Romaine lettuce chopped
  • 6-8 slices bacon cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 2-3 green onions sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh toasted breadcrumbs
Prep Time:
15 minutes
Total Time:
15 minutes
