Apple Galette

Blossom Lady

Oct 07, 2021 08:32 AM

Apple Galette – A buttery pie-style crust is layered with plenty of sweetened fresh apples and then baked until the fruit is tender and the crust is beautifully golden brown and supremely flakey. It’s one of the absolute best fall desserts! Some of you may be asking what is a galette anyway? A galette, which translates to “flat cake,” can be various types of free form, flat or round French pastries. In English it is pronounced “gah-let.” This variation is what I would call an easier alternative to a clas...

When faced with seasonal fresh strawberries, few desserts are as welcomed as pie, and this version with jello is one of those easy recipes that screams sunny days and outdoor eating, with a sweet well balanced filling and lots of strawberry flavor. It lasts for several days, but I never get to experience that as it disappears so quickly! This is one of those great recipes that I made one day just because, and it was quickly labeled as one of the family's favorites. A bit of a surprise, as using commercial...

Crispy Baked Tilapia Recipe

Blossom Lady

Oct 06, 2021 08:34 AM

Tilapia is a mild-flavored fish that can be cooked using a wide range of methods, from pan-frying to poaching to grilling, and, of course, baking. This baked tilapia recipe has a nice crisp coating that makes the fish taste like it was fried while instead it was cooked in the oven. The breading is a mixture of Panko (Japanese bread crumbs), crushed potato chips, and grated Parmesan cheese, creating a cheesy, crunchy topping with just the right amount of salt. The fish sits on top of a bed of leeks and pepp...

Plum Cobbler

Oct 06, 2021 08:33 AM

This is one of the best desserts I make during plum season. It comes together quickly and is ready in under an hour. I love it with my cinnamon pie crust but you can use just about any pie crust you want. The juicy plum layer bubbles up during baking creating a fantastic syrup! Serve it on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it's a total crowd-pleaser. By now you might have noticed I love fruit desserts, and cobblers are one of the easiest ones to put together. Especially is the topping is pie c...

Wild Rice and Onion Bread

Blossom Lady

Oct 06, 2021 08:18 AM

This wild rice and onion bread is easy to make, and amazingly delicious. I had wanted to make this wild rice and onion bread for a long time. I love the look of the wild rice throughout the bread, and I am crazy about onions in just about anything savory. The first time I made this bread, I had never made wild rice before (it's much easier than I had thought). I found a small package that makes 2 cups of cooked wild rice in 60 minutes, and it turned out perfectly. I used one cup for these loaves and adde...

Asian Pear Crisp

Blossom Lady

Oct 05, 2021 08:36 AM

Asian pears are crisp and perfectly juicy when eaten raw. They cook up nicely, too, as in this Asian pear crisp. Any pear will work in this recipe—Anjou pears and Bosc pears are particularly good for baking. A bit of garam masala and warm cardamom gives this crisp a little spicy kick, but feel free to leave it out and use cinnamon in their place if you (or your spice rack) is so inclined. Similarly, the whole wheat pastry flour adds a hearty, nutty note, but an equal amount of all-purpose flour or ro...

I have been eating this mushroom soup chicken and rice casserole for as long as I can remember. This recipe has chicken pieces of your choice that are baked up in a creamy mushroom soup and rice casserole, with cheese on top! Oh, and my Grandma would always sprinkle crushed saltine crackers on top as well, an awesome retro touch! This can be a really affordable meal for your family as you can skip the chicken breasts and use cheaper cuts like chicken thighs and legs if you want. I find that chicken thighs ...
